The educational program is multifaceted. In keeping with the ACGME core competencies, training is provided at the bedside, in didactic lectures, in seminar-type conferences, and in other settings.
Below is a list of some of the recurring conferences, the current schedule may be checked on the calendar (click here). The full curriculum may be found on the menu at the left.
Critical Care Medicine Section Conferences:
Advanced Lecture: Lectures are presented by Critical Care faculty and other invited guest lecturers. This conferences follow a didactic format and is led by faculty.
Journal Club: Current, published topics on research and subject matter of special interest, the journal club is presented in an interactive forum. The fellow and faculty presenting at the conference will choose topics. The fellow leads the discussion.
Case Conference: Interesting cases from the intensive care unit are presented. The intent of this conference is to create a dialogue on care of the critically ill patient. Faculty and fellows will select special cases of current or unusual interest.
Institutional Conferences:
Anaesthesiology Grand Rounds: Various topics are presented by staff or guest lecturers.
Surgical Grand Rounds: Various topics are presented by staff or guest lecturers.
Medicine Morbidity and Mortality Conference: Interesting cases are presented in an interactive format many of these cases involve patients who have been in the ICU.
Graduate Medical Education Conferences: Various conferences addressing the competencies are presented throughout the year
